Staten Island Community Boards: Five Boro Bike Tour, park upgrade among topics to be addressed

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — An upgrade to a St. George park and planned street closings for the upcoming Five Boro Bike Tour will be among the discussions taking place this week during public Community Board meetings on Staten Island.

Here are this week’s planned meetings, as provided by representatives from each of Staten Island’s three Community Boards:

Community Board 1

The New Brighton/St. George/Tompkinsville Area Committee will meet on Tuesday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. The meeting ID is 988 0378 9534. The passcode is 712393.

At the meeting, Nicole Brooks, of the city Department of Parks and Recreation, will discuss the construction of a public restroom at Lt. Lia Playground, 49 Belmont Place, St. George.

And Rafet Awad, a lieutenant with the Staten Island Community Affairs Section of the NYPD, will discuss the May 4 Five Boro Bike Tour and planned street closures.

The West Brighton/Randall Manor Area Committee will also meet on Tuesday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.

A liquor license application for 500 Forest Avenue Corp. will be discussed, as will the application by The Chandelier Room, 1112 Forest Ave. Both businesses are in West Brighton.

And the Mariners Harbor/Port Richmond/Elm Park/Arlington Area Committee Meeting will also meet on Tuesday, March 18, at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

A liquor license renewal application for Los Charros Restaurant and Bar, 244 Port Richmond Ave., Port Richmond, will be considered.

On Thursday, March 20, there will be a hybrid meeting of the Stapleton/Clifton/Concord Area Committee at 6:30 p.m. in the Stapleton Library, Stapleton.

Community Board 2

The Melvin Avenue Sewer Pump Station Rebuild Project in Travis will be discussed during a full board meeting of Community Board 2 on Tuesday, March 18, at 7 p.m.

The meeting will be held in a hybrid format, both on Zoom and at the Joan & Alan Bernikow JCC of Staten Island, 1466 Manor Rd., Sea View.

There are votes planned for motions concerning the Big Dipper Cannabis Retail Dispensary, at 51 Richmond Hill Rd. #D, New Springville, and a change in provider for the St. John’s Residence for Boys at 1133 Forest Hill Rd., Willowbrook.

Community Board 3

Community Board 3 will host a public meeting of its Ethics, Rules & By-laws Committee Meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, at 6 p.m., in the board office, 1243 Woodrow Rd., Woodrow, on the second floor.

The committee will review the board’s current responsibilities, rules and conduct. This discussion aims to ensure accountability and uphold the integrity and transparency of the governing processes, according to the board.
