David Huff McBride

David Huff McBride, 87, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025 in Southaven. He was a resident of Senatobia and a member of Holy Innocents Episcopal Church of Como.

Born on July 14, 1937, in Laurel, David was the son of George Huff and Edna McSween McBride. He spent most of his early years in Glade Community, graduated from Glade High School and attended Jones County Junior College.

David was preceded in death by his wife Patricia “Trish” Allen McBride; son William David McBride; stepdaughter Andrea Aiken; granddaughter Melissa M. Creel; his parents; sister Jean Manning; and brother Stuart McBride.

Survivors include his children Douglas McBride, Kathleen Gaines and Gregg (Sherry) McBride; and grandsons Sam Gaines, Zachary (Jade), Blake (Lauren) and Brady McBride; step-grandsons James (Amber) Byrd and Caleb (Laken) Byrd; great-grandchildren Jace and Lily McBride, Emmie Evans McBride, Jon O'Neal, Abigaille and Annabelle Creel, Levi Byrd, Gabe Dyess, Tony Dyess and Hayli Stevens; sister Mary Margaret Jones; and brother Tony McBride.

David's interests were many and varied. He was a voracious reader with an extensive personal library. He loved history and was especially interested in Native American history, giving oral presentations and publishing his findings. He loved NASCAR and had his own race car at one time. For about 15 years, he had his private pilot’s license and loved flying. He had a lifelong interest in sports of all kinds, but especially college football and the NFL. He loved to cook and was proud to win several chili cook-offs. He and Trish loved their friends and loved to entertain. He appreciated almost all kinds of music, from Willie Nelson to opera, and enjoyed going to concerts.

A proud patriot, David was a past master of Ebenezer Lodge No. 76, Senatobia; a 32-Degree Scottish Rite Mason; a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans and was a past commander of Sgt. Sam House Camp, SCV, Senatobia; and was a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, Desoto Patriots Chapter of Southaven-Horn Lake.

He will be remembered by those who knew him for his quick wit and humor, command of the English language, formidable memory and vast amount of knowledge, both trivia and historical. He was a published author and contributor to several publications with his amusing short stories of people and events he encountered.

The family thanks the many friends, neighbors and church members who loved David and Trish and attended to their every need during this trying time.

A celebration of life service will be for David and Trish at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 12.
